The regional lymph nodes are small, few in number and situated at the lower medial aspect of the gland. A few capsular lymphatic vessels extend toward the diaphragm or the kidney. Their primary routes of drainage, however, are directed medialward, passing to the thoracic duct cr cisterna chyli either directly or by way of regional lymph nodes. These vessels lie within the suprarenal gland capsule and communicate with the subserous lymphatic network. Deep to these networks are the lymphatic vessels proper of the suprarenal gland. The gross and microscopic anatomy of the suprarenal gland lymphatic system was studied in post mortem specimens and specimens in which the venous system was injected with blue latex solution.Įxtensive subserous lymphatic networks overlie the suprarenal gland.
